New Zealand Journeymen XI
So the test match between England and New Zealand looks set to be heading for a washout and the inevitable draw. Time for us cricket followers to fill our time with trivial stuff like naming New Zealand's ultimate journeyman XI.
God help us if New Zealand cricket were forced to field this team in a test match against anyone....
Matthew Bell
Michael Papps
Peter Ingram
Richard Jones
David Sewell
Kerry Walmsley
Brooke Walker
Robbie Hart (wk)
Chris Kuggeleijn
Chris Drum
Michael Mason

It depends on your definition of journeyman really and the era you are selecting from. Which eras are you looking at here? I hope that isn't the batting order, because you would probably swap Kuggelijn and Walmsley around. You could probably justifiably name another 30 players in the team and they would fit in. I wouldn't put Walmsley in there, he wasn't really a journeyman, more of an attacking bowler. He was aggressive. Darrin Murray, Blair Hartland, Blair Pocock, Grant Bradburn, Roydon Hayes and the biggest journeyman in New Zealand cricket Richard De Groen . Someone like Gavin Larsen could be a test match journeyman.
ReplyDeleteYou also have way too many bowlers in this team. How would David Sewell bat in the middle order? Robert Kennedy?
Not bad :) I would go with

Gary Stead
