It appears that the big signing by the Highlanders to be announced tomorrow has caught us by surprise - it is former Auckland and Blues midfielder, Winston Stanley.
Stanley who has been playing in Australia for the Western Force for the last few seasons has been signed to replace Ma'a Nonu in the Highlanders midfield - and could be joined by fellow Aucklander Malakai Fekitoa with Nonu now at the Blues.
Can the nephew of former All Black Smokin Joe Stanley be a big hit down south? We'll have to see.
If this is the case then I am disappointed. I would hardly call Stanley a major signing given he struggled to get a spot at the Blues and went to the Force. He is a good signing given his young age, but surely the Highlanders are clutching at straws if this is their major signing.
