We Are the Champions (of the World)!

It's a big weekend for deciding world champions.

For New Zealanders and French it's the prospect of seeing their teams be crowned world champions at rugby union that matters this Sunday at Eden Park in Auckland.

CJ Wilson will be hoping to guide the Rangers to victory in Game 1 of the World Series in St Louis tomorrow
But for several million people based in the Dallas-Fort Worth and St Louis metro areas - and other American sports fans - it's the prospect of seeing their teams crowned world champions possibly by Monday depending on results.

The best of 7 World Series starts on Thursday NZ Time in St Louis with Games 1 and 2. After a break on Saturday, the Rangers and Cardinals will move to Arlington for the next 3 games. After a day off, the series then returns to the Gateway City for games 6 & 7 if necessary.

If one of these teams wins 4-0, baseball's world champs could be known some 48 hours after rugby union knows its world champs.

Go ABs and go Cardinals!!!

Sorry, Rob. Cardinals to take on Rangers in World Series.

Rob Borland's Brewers hosted the Cardinals tonight, looking for a win to keep their World Series hopes alive. However, early in the 3rd inning, the Cardinals scored their 2nd 4 run inning to give them a 9-4 lead going into the bottom of the 3rd. Plenty of time left although it's been raining runs in Milwaukee tonight courtesy of Albert Pujols.

Final score 12-6 to the Cardinals. Another World Series without an East Coast team.

Texas Rangers Make World Series

A 9-run 3rd inning helped George Bush's men to their 2nd consecutive World Series. Tigers' star pitcher Scherzer was replaced by Porcello after 7 runs were conceded in that inning. The Rangers romped home 15-5 to seal the American League championship in front of their home fans.

The Rangers will now wait to find out if they take on either the Cardinals or Brewers when the series starts next week.

Detroit Tigers pull one back

The Tigers won Game 4 of the American League series 7-5 to close the gap to the Rangers going to the conclusion of the series in Texas. It may be too little to late. But as Red Sox fans will tell you, it ain't over till the fat lady sings.

Meanwhile the Cardinals aim to take control of their series this afternoon.

Texas Rangers 7 Detroit Tigers 3 FINAL/11

George Bush's men once again walk off with the spoils. This time they walk off with the hopes and dreams of a World title coming to America's most impoverished city with yet another thumping win in overtime.

3-1 up now & with the return series in Arlington to come, it looks like the Rangers are set to get another crack at the world title when the World Series starts in a week's time, courtesy of another big score from Nelson Cruz.

Meanwhile the Cardinals have beaten the Brewers 4-3 in St Louis to take the lead in the National League championship series.

Albert Pujols continues to lead enhance his legendary status in the gateway city, dominating the pitchers once again.
