Neymar fell awkwardly after a challenge from Colombian midfielder, Juan Zuniga late in the game. He had to be taken on a stretcher by medics and was rushed to hospital following the game.
It is a massive blow for Brazil ahead of their semifinal with Germany on Tuesday night in Belo Horizonte with captain, Thiago Silva also out due to a suspension for picking up his second yellow card of the tournament.
It also robs the tournament of the chance to see Lionel Messi take on Neymar, teammates at Barcelona, should Brazil and Argentina meet in the Final.
New Zealanders probably have seen this before when Dan Carter was ruled out of the 2011 Rugby World Cup halfway through the tournament after tearing his groin before the ABs played Canada. The ABs did go on to win the World Cup without their star talisman.
All Blacks fans, look away - bad memories from 2011! |
