10 Favourite Sportsgrounds in the World

My favourites listed from 10th to 1st (feel free to comment on your favourite sportsgrounds in the world)

Wrigley Field, Chicago
Best and most beautiful ballpark in the world even though many newer and better ballparks have emerged since. Shame it hasn't quite got a team fit for it at the moment.

Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne
Have always enjoyed watching tennis played in this fine arena. Day or night, room up or down, it is absolutely stunning and easily the best tennis stadium in the world this side of Wimbledon.

Birds Nest, Beijing
The most beautiful Olympic stadium ever built. A testament to Chinese architecture.

Centre Court, Wimbledon
With the new canvas roof, the All England Tennis Club's ageless Centre Court has now become the best tennis stadium in the world. A must-see even if it's not tennis season.

Soccer City Stadium, Johannesburg
A sensational venue for any sport. It was a fitting venue for the 2010 World Cup Final. And oh, the All Blacks have also played there as well, and won. Definitely one of my favourite sportsgrounds in the world.

Cowboys Stadium, Arlington
The stadium Wembley could have become - not that I'm saying that the new Wembley isn't great. It's just the new home Jerry Jones built is easily the best of the new generation of stadiums in the USA at the moment.

Basin Reserve, Wellington
The Basin Reserve is a prime example that you don't always need swanky new stadiums to get the punters along. As long as the sun is shining, Wellington's biggest roundabout has been getting the punters along to the cricket for years and has often provided a better atmosphere than it's much bigger and newer brother by the Railway Station.

Anfield, Liverpool
Hard to believe that Anfield is considered too small for Liverpool's current needs - it is still a fine stadium by any stretch of the imagination. Being in the Kop is an experience not to be missed. In an ideal world, it could be around yet and new owner, John Henry might very well apply the Fenway Park recipe to this classic arena.

Rose Bowl Stadium, Pasadena
Another classic and another example that you don't always need swanky new stadiums. The Rose Bowl may be too old to host the Super Bowl and too big for regular season NFL games but it still very much has life as the home of college football side, the UCLA Bruins and of course, the daddy of all bowls, the Rose Bowl. It has hosted the odd football game and of course has had the honour of hosting a World Cup Final - 1994 of course.

Forsyth Barr Stadium, Dunedin
Dunedin's new enclosed stadium is an absolute state-of-the-art, world-class, unique arena that has firmly put the old bird at Carisbrook to bed. The best sports and entertainment venue in New Zealand if not necessarily the biggest, and one the people of Dunedin are glad got built.

Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne
My favourite sportsground in the world. Sure it has become far bigger than it was when it was first built but it is easily the best sportsground in the world in my opinion. Give it any sport and the G will do it well. A stadium fit to be Australian sport's crown jewel.

  1. I together with my friends came checking the best strategies from your web page then the sudden came up with a horrible feeling I never expressed respect to the web blog owner for those tips. These men became as a result very interested to learn all of them and already have honestly been tapping into these things. Many thanks for actually being really accommodating and for making a choice on such quality resources most people are really eager to understand about. My very own sincere regret for not expressing gratitude to you earlier.
