New NZ Super Rugby Tops Out in Store Now!

In a change of trend that is set to be permanent - and hopefully more lucrative for the likes of Adidas, the Super Rugby franchises and Rebel Sport - the New Zealand Super Rugby franchises have released their new tops for the 2014 Super Rugby season.

Just in time for Christmas then :-)

Here they are and here are my thoughts.

Blues
Home top - The Blues have always delivered the best Super Rugby tops in New Zealand in my opinion and this is another great top for Blues fans to be chuffed about. Like other New Zealand sides, the Blues have chosen to reflect the huge Pacific and Maori influence in the Blues main region

Away - It will be a bit odd to see a Blues jersey with red standing out on it - it is a nod to the North Harbour connection. Still very nice, clean design.

Chiefs
Home - The Chiefs in recent times have pushed to reflect the Polynesian and Maori influence in the team and this is quite a standout design, a bit outside the box with rugby jersey designs (and a bit like Stade Francais in France). Fantastic actually.
Away - Perfectly compliments the home top and will be one that the players will love to wear away from the Tron and Tauranga.

Hurricanes
Away - Probably the better of the Hurricanes new jerseys to be fair - the attempt to have the hurricane incorporated into the design of the top works much better in black.
Home - Not the best of the new designs - a bit dull to be honest and a missed opportunity for the Hurricanes to create a standout top.

Crusaders
Home - Very Lord of the Rings inspired - and it works well for the most successful Super Rugby side in New Zealand.

Away - Finally good to see the Crusaders going black for their away tops and this is a fantastic top.

Highlanders
Home - probably the 2nd best Super Rugby top of the new ones in my opinion - just a clean, subtle design that works. Now for Jamie Joseph to put on a team fitting of the top.

Away - Green stays and it works just as well as the previous green editions.

So start writing to Santa now for a new Super Rugby top!
