So after much speculation linking him to pretty much every NRL club on the planet including the North Sydney Bears, Benji Marshall has signed a 2 year contract with St George-Illawarra Dragons. It is believed that the club won't be penalized for having such a high-profile/expensive player in their roster but will have to shed a high-profile contracted player on from the roster - speculation it could be Gareth Widdop who Marshall is effectively competing against.
Marshall joins fellow Kiwis Bronson Harrison and Jason Nightingale at the club and with the Dragons just outside the 8, could be the player that Jamie Soward wasn't and turn the Dragons into Grand Final contenders. The Dragons are currently one of many clubs just outside the top 8 at the moment and have really missed Wayne Bennett and Mark Gasnier's influence.
