It is a good team. Does Thomson have to be an openside with Tietjens and Hardie alternatives? We would need a backup scavenger unless you can rely on usual bench player Croswell filling the void. They only have gone for 2 halfbacks. It is hard to leave Treeby out, what about Ellison coming off the bench offering utility. I like the depth of this squad. Gear is a left winger for mine which makes me think that Poki could be a better option to start.

True. Thing is Adam Thomson is a bit like Tom Croft, James Haskell's England teammate - very fast and good carrier of the ball but not really an openside flanker in the NZ sense. Haskell doesn't have the mobility to play openside so that could open the door for Hardie and Tietjens.
