Alberto Contador Stripped of 2010 Tour de France Title

In some huge news this morning, multiple Tour de France winner, Alberto Contador has lost his 2010 title after he tested positive for using a banned performance enhancing drug clenbuterol during that Tour.

The 2010 Tour de France was memorable for Contador's battle with Luxembourg rider, Andy Schleck. Schleck now assumes the title as Tour de France winner - a bit hollow one might imagine but it's not the first time it's happened in this sport.

Contador's appeal that he was poisoned resulting in the positive drugs test was thrown out by the Court of Arbitration in Sport meaning his 2 year ban has been reactivated. Contador will not be able to race again until August 6 therefore ruling him out of the Olympics and this year's Tour de France.

The great Spaniard's reputation is now in tatters after becoming only the 2nd person in the last 6 years to have his title stripped following a positive drugs test - Floyd Landis being the other.

For Schleck, I guess it's some justice for him especially after the controversy during the 2010 Tour where he lost the yellow jersey to Contador after slowing down to help a fallen rider while Contador rode on but it's a shame that 2010 Tour - one of the best ever watched - will now be remembered for the wrong reasons.
