A Look Forward to the New Zealand v South Africa Cricket Series

It's got to be said that Twenty20 cricket aside, it's been quite a quiet summer so far on the domestic cricket scene in New Zealand. Yes the Zimbabweans have only got a week left in this country but as we've seen in the test and two one dayers, they haven't really offered much competition to the Blackcaps. A shame really given that the Kiwis face the number 1-elect side in world cricket, South Africa.

It's hard to see who will do well against South Africa from this series given the quality of opposition. We might have unearthed a few gems or more flat-track bullies.

But here's my tip on who should feature against South Africa in all disciplines - accounting for the fact that Ross Taylor is only available from the 1st ODI at the earliest and Dean Brownlie's fractured finger.

Twenty20 XI -
Rob Nicol
Martin Guptill
Brendon McCullum(captain/wk)
Kane Williamson
Jacob Oram
Nathan McCullum
Andrew Ellis
Doug Bracewell
Kyle Mills
Tim Southee
Tarun Nethula

Andy Ellis actually did alright and I would keep him on for the Twenty20 series to see how good he can be against a higher level of opposition.

ODI XI
Brendon McCullum (wk)
Martin Guptill
Ross Taylor (captain)
Kane Williamson
Tom Latham
Jacob Oram
Rob Nicol
Nathan McCullum
Kyle Mills
Doug Bracewell
Tim Southee

Test XI
Martin Guptill
Brendon McCullum
Kane Williamson
Ross Taylor (captain)
Tom Latham
Daniel Vettori
BJ Watling (wk)
Doug Bracewell
Tim Southee
Trent Boult/Rob Nicol
Chris Martin

Tom Latham could feature a lot more than he thought he would with Brownlie out for a while with his injury.
