Martin Johnson Quits England Manager Role

After weeks of speculation, Martin Johnson has resigned from his post as England manager. The former England captain who led them to their only Rugby World Cup triumph in Australia in 2003, had managed England for 3 and a half years, winning 21 of 38 games.

A bit of a shame really as I think he was given the role too early and should have been given another 4 years - like Graham Henry. There are a few young talented players emerging on the scene like Ben Youngs, Manu Tuilagi, Chris Ashton & Courtney Lawes so it would have been good for them to have the continuity.

Nick Mallett, Graham Henry have all been mentioned although Jim Mallinder and Shaun Edwards look to have the front running while Jake White has been ruled out.

They'll need to find a coach quick before the Six Nations starts in February.
