With the likes of Nelsen & Vicelich on the wrong side of 30, and Paston, Brown, Killen, Sigmund, Bertos, Lochhead & Smeltz pretty much the seniors in the team, who should feature in the All Whites come 2014 - should we qualify that is. My tip:

I think even at 37, Nelsen would still be in the running if he's still fit and healthy. What could be in his favour is his age funnily enough as it means he won't feature for Blackburn or whichever club he ends up at in the future as much, meaning he could prolong his career a bit more - if he does his stretches before and after games too!
If Nelsen ain't fit, Sigmund would surely have to fit in there.
I'm going for a more attack-minded side given we now have two genuine wingers in Barborouses and Rojas. Wood is probably the best striker we've had in years and should be featuring more in the starting line up now - he's got physicality along with finesse too, making him almost the complete striker. Then, bring on Shane Smeltz off the bench.
Lochy has already lost his pace so he'll be no good. There's some other's that need to be considered like the guys doing college in the states at the moment, think Boxall and Gleeson.
ReplyDeleteAlso Jeremy Brockie is only 24, he'll be in the picture out wide or centrally as a striker.
Yeah Rich but Brockie is a bit of a journeyman - I'd have him on the bench.. Can Boxall play right back? Gleeson could be cover on the bench, you'd surely still have the experienced Moss in goal - better to have some experience at the back.
ReplyDeleteI am hopeful that some exciting teenagers will come though the ranks and make it in the next three years or someone already playing overseas will see it as a chance to play at a FIFA World Cup and so will change countries to play for the mighty All Whites!
