They've avoided the rout they suffered last time they played in Detroit on Thanksgiving in 1962 and won quite comfortably in the end 27-15. With the help of a Sam Warburton-like brain explosion from Lions star nose tackle, Ndamukong Suh.
Speaking of Suh, it's a shame that a player of his talent and physique has to revert to such dirty tactics at such a young age and in only his second season in the NFL. The former Heisman trophy winner and 2nd overall draft pick in 2010 shouldn't really want to build a reputation as a thug and lose the respect of his peers.
Anyway, the Packers improve to 11-0 and with 5 games to go, a perfect regular season record of 16-0 is no longer a wild fantasy.
Here's the Packers' schedule for the rest of the season:
Dec 4, at Giants
Dec 11, Raiders
Dec 18, at Chiefs
Dec 25, Bears
Jan 1, Lions
It looks like the Giants could be the Packers' greatest threat to perfection as the Packers have to play the Giants in the big Apple.
However, it appears the Giants are having their November wobbles which threaten to derail their Super Bowl aspirations.
Nevertheless, from a fan who knows, the Giants have a knack of ending hopes of perfection. Furthermore, it was the Giants who knocked Brett Favre's Packers out of an encounter with the then unbeaten New England Patriots in the 2008 Super Bowl.
Jordy Nelson - most prolific receiver for Packers in '11. |
Their 1 away game is at Kansas City but it is against a heavily depleted Chiefs side and even with Kyle Orton throwing for them, the Packers are too good a side to lose such a game.
So I'm sticking my head out for a 16-0 season - even 15-1 would still be phenomenal but right from the start, I believed the Packers had the goods to pull off something quite special. Aaron Rodgers is having the sort of season Tom Brady had in 2007 when the Patriots finished the regular season 16-0.
So here's to perfection!
