Bauer Watch - TdF Day 9

Jack Bauer made a massive contribution on the Tour de France today, joining in with teammates, Ryder Hesjedal et al, to help rising Irish star, Dan Martin to stage victory over Dane Johan Fuglsang in Bagneres-de-Bigorre.

Chris Froome just about hung onto his yellow jersey after a dramatic day where he lost all his teammates early on the race. It was an epic solo ride by the British favourite as he finished up in the first chasing pack to negate the damage caused earlier. However, Froome is in a slightly vulnerable position now with his trusty lieutenant Richie Porte dropping to 16th on the overall classification and Alejandro Valverde now 2nd in the overall standings.

Alberto Contador, Froome's nearest challenger is 1'51" on the overall table.

As for Jack, he is 167th 1 hour 48 minutes 19 seconds behind Froome having finished 155th, 26 minutes 20 seconds behind his teammate today but that won't really matter on a day when Jack Bauer finally got into the limelight and got his team the reward they deserved on the day.

The Tour de France takes a break on Monday before flying up north to Normandy.
