3 games, 4 points from a possible 9. Not too bad a haul - pretty good for sides chasing survival in the Premier League. Then again, this is Manchester United at the start of the season.
Granted the reigning champions have had one of the toughest starts to their season in their history - an opener away at Swansea, followed by a home game against Chelsea, and a game at Liverpool.
Even so, there have been question marks about Manchester United's performances on the pitch in David Moyes' first three Premier League games.
United struggled against a tight and effective Liverpool earlier this month |
Fellaini and Moyes are back together again!! |
Perhaps, but that's why United went into the transfer window and tried to pursue dynamic midfielders to boost what has been an Achilles heel for United in recent times. They didn't quite get Spanish midfielder, Ander Herrera but got Marouane Fellaini. However, Fellaini will need time to bed so can't be expected to spark the United midfield straight away.
It's weird how a dynamic, creative player like Shinji Kagawa can't get into the side. Ryan Giggs is clearly not the player he was and can't be expected to go up all the time and with Scholes gone, Kagawa is really the only creative midfielder left at Old Trafford - Tom Cleverley is more an out-and-out player who excels in space out on the wing.
Oh well, perhaps a first win for David Moyes at Old Trafford could boost United's season and confidence and really United aren't the only side who seem to be struggling for form - Tottenham comes to mind too.
In the end, it's your form at the end of the season that wins the title and that is where Moyes must be judged.
Can Holloway coach another upset performance from his side at Old Trafford? |
