England 4-0 Moldova! Is Welbeck the new Gary Lineker?

EDIT: England have as expected, comfortably beaten world football minnows, Moldova 4-0 at Wembley.
Danny Welbeck, Steven Gerrard and new England hero, Rickie Lambert got the goals which saw them home and take the lead in their group as a result of Montenegro's draw in Poland which keeps Stevan Jovetic's men in the hunt.

The only downside is that Danny Welbeck is out of the Ukraine game due to a yellow card picked up in this game. It's a big blow with Sturridge and Rooney still very questionable although Lambert's ability to carry his poacher instincts onto the international stage has been very encouraging for Roy Hodgson's men.

A critical phase of qualification for the 2014 World Cup kicks off tonight with England hosting Moldova at Wembley Stadium.

England must win and are expected to win with their opponents really not that great at all; this is a glorious chance to overtake Montenegro for the lead in their UEFA group prior to their big game in Kiev on Tuesday.

Even without Wayne Rooney and Daniel Sturridge, England should win fairly easily but England have never been known to follow the form book.

England beat Moldova 5-0 in the return leg in Chisinau last year
Anyway, here is a look back at 5 of England's most memorable World Cup qualifiers - and a reason why I say they never follow the form book.

1993 San Marino 1 England 7 - Taylor bows out in ignominous fashion

1997 Italy 0 England 0 - Roman heroes

2001 Germany 1 England 5 - Der auld enemy is vanquished!

2001 England 2 Greece 2 - David Beckham!

2009 England 5 Croatia 1 - Sweet revenge!
