EDIT: The Gareth Bale transfer saga has ended with Real Madrid shelling out a world record fee for 85.3 million pound fee for the now former Tottenham Hotspur winger. Gareth Bale's deal is for 6 years and he will probably be revealed in the next couple of days - he couldn't be unveiled to the Madridistas for the early afternoon game against Athletic Bilbao at home.
The worst secret in football this summer might very well be out now. Indeed, what seemed for so long to be the most drawn-out and ridiculous transfer saga in football history appears to be at an end - although the outcome might very well surprise many.
Unbelievably, it appears that Real Madrid are very keen to shell out the astronomical 100 million euro fee for Gareth Bale - and break the transfer record set when they moved for Cristiano Ronaldo 4 years ago - and the likes of Zinedine Zidane and Franco Baldini are heavily involved in trying to convince Tottenham's Welsh wizard that Madrid is a whole lot nicer than Tottenham - which it is.
Madrid v Tottenham - no brainer really |
Even AVB admits that Bale could be gone possibly by the end of the week and with signings like Willian and Roberto Soldado and the pursuit of the likes of Paulinho, AVB is already halfway through his plans for life after Bale.
Whatever happens, it would represent the best piece of footballing business Tottenham has ever done - a profit of at least 90 million euros - plus a great left back in Fabio Coentrao who couldn't get game time in Madrid because the best left back in the world was there - is likely for a player that was bought as a kid from Southampton for not too much and was close to being sold off after a slow start to his Spurs career.
