Bauer Watch - TdF Day 3

There's Jack (no. 172)

Some good news for Australia on the sporting field at last - not only can their rugby team actually win a crunch game, their cyclists are starting to deliver with Aussie team Orica-Greenedge winning its first ever Tour de France stage courtesy of their Aussie rider Simon Gerrans. Gerrans held off the hard-charging yet unlucky Peter Sagan to win stage 3 of the Tour de France.

Orica timed their run right after Sagan's Cannondale team thought they had timed their run right with an early charge for the line in the seaside town of Calvi. Nevertheless, Sagan's 2nd consecutive 2nd (excuse the pun) means he is in the green jumper, leading the points classification.

Belgian Jan Bakelants remains in the yellow jumper having finished in the peloton along with Jack Bauer who is classified 130th on this stage, 8'26" behind Gerrans and 164th overall, 26 minutes 1 second behind Bakelants. Bauer's full skills could be on display tomorrow when the Tour heads to the mainland for the first team time trial in a while - Bauer was superb last year on the Giro d'Italia and at the Olympics and Garmin-Sharp have quite a good team when it comes to time trials so watch this space.
