Bauer Watch - TdF Day 7

The bridesmaid has finally won a stage on this year's Tour de France. A superb effort by Team Cannondale enabled Slovakian star, Peter Sagan, to win his first stage of the Tour de France and extend his lead atop the points race, holding off a strong challenge at the end from Argos-Shimano's John Degenkolb at the end.

Edvald Boasson Hagen and Daryl Impey finished in the same sprint pack in Albi meaning that Impey is still in the yellow jersey ahead of Boasson Hagen, although with the race heading into the mountains proper for the first time, it is almost certain that the overall classification will change and certainly go in favor of Hagen's teammate, Chris Froome.

Jack Bauer finished 171st in the pack that finished 14 minutes 53 seconds behind which included Mark Cavendish, recovering from his crash yesterday. Bauer is now classified 171st overall 52 minutes and 55 seconds behind Daryl Impey.

The Tour de France now heads to Castres, home of the French rugby champions, for the first real shake-up of the tour. Can Bauer take his mountain-biking prowess to the Pyrenees? Find out more tomorrow.

  1. It's not his job to do so. He'll supply supplements and bidons for the Garmin team for the first half of the race and then he'll sit up while the 4 Garmin GC riders strive for high place finishes.
