It looks like Lionel Messi and Neymar will have to get to know each other and their current teammates better with FIFA announcing that it has banned FC Barcelona from the 2014 summer and 2015 winter transfer windows for serious transfer and registration rule breaches regarding players under 18.
It means Barcelona who drew 1-1 with Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday night and are 2nd in La Liga will not be able to sign new players for the rest of the year and at the start of 2015 (effectively the whole 2014/15 season) - it is not clear whether Barcelona can sign players who will be off contract during that time.
It is quite a serious blow for the Catalan club as they look to rebuild their squad with the likes of Carlos Puyol, Xavi and Victor Valdes leaving the club in the summer although they do have quite a strong squad at the moment backed up by their strong academy.
The Spanish FA has also been sanctioned by FIFA for failing to punish Barcelona over its transfer and registration rule breaches.
