In what is turning out to be a horror 6 months for celebrities, sports or otherwise, the world will need to come to terms now with another tragic turn of events for a familiar sports name.
Australian swim legend and Olympic gold medalist, Ian Thorpe, is reportedly in hospital in a critical condition fighting a serious infection which could see him lose his left arm - it is not clear whether that means loss of function or even, amputation.
Thorpe who is currently based in Switzerland, had been fighting depression amongst other things recently after a failed attempt to make the 2012 Summer Olympics.
