Can the San Francisco 49ers Win the Super Bowl?

Another season of football is upon us and ready or not, the San Francisco 49ers are roaring to go out and show the world that last year's route to the bro v bro Super Bowl was no fluke.

Jim Harbaugh is certainly hoping that come February 2014 there will be no brotherly love to worry about and that he can finally crown the revolution in the Bay Area he has led since 2011 with a first Super Bowl title since 1994.

With quarterback Colin Kaepernick's stocks rising higher than ever before and personnel in the 49ers defence the same as before, the 49ers should be contenders this season.

The only issues?

We won't see much of Crabtree this season

The health of WR Michael Crabtree who is still on the PUP list and a long way from returning to the field, means that one of Kaepernick's key target men is gone - although the arrival of Anquan Boldin from Baltimore could alleviate Crabtree's loss; and

Potential second season syndrome for Colin Kaepernick who is now pretty much the "it" man with dependable back-up - and a very unlucky one indeed - Alex Smith now at Kansas City Chiefs. Unwanted Cleveland Browns and former Longhorns quarterback, Colt McCoy is Kaepernick's back up meaning the pressure is all on Kaepernick to perform.

But if there's anyone who's shown the ability to perform under huge pressure, it's Kaepernick - let's not forget the pressure he was placed under last season with the 49ers losing first choice quarterback, Alex Smith to concussion against the St Louis Rams. He performed with aplomb thereafter as he guided the 49ers to victory against the Falcons in Atlanta and then with his running game, nearly masterminded one of the greatest comebacks in Super Bowl history - with some help from the power company.

Russell Wilson is Kaepernick's nemesis as San Francisco v Seattle emerges as one of the match-ups to watch

It should be a fascinating season. Of course there's the new rivalry with Russell Wilson at the Seattle Seahawks which could be the new Tom Brady v Peyton Manning of this decade in the NFC West division.

The NFC West takes on the NFC and AFC South this season plus the Green Bay Packers and Washington Redskins so there'll be plenty of QB v QB comparisons - Kaepernick is scheduled to take on fellow rookies of last season, Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III, plus fellow elite quarterbacks, Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Matt Ryan and Matt Schaub.

It will be a cracker of a season for the San Francisco 49ers whether the playoffs come into the equation or not.

The question is are you ready for some football?

Most San Francisco Giants and yachting fans might be.
