Greatest Trans-Tasman Cricket XI Ever
Let's face it in 100 years, Australia & New Zealand will probably end up as one big country like Europe.
So as it stands what is your pick of the greatest ANZAC cricket side ever?
The rule: you must pick 12 players with at least 6 Aussies and 6 Kiwis.
Glenn Turner, NZ
Bill Ponsford, AU
Don Bradman, AU
Bert Sutcliffe, NZ
Martin Crowe, NZ
Keith Miller, AU
Adam Gilchrist, AU
Shane Warne, AU
Richard Hadlee, NZ
Shane Bond, NZ
Glenn McGrath, AU
12th man - Stephen Fleming, NZ (he was an awesome fielder)
And from last ten years ONLY -
M Hayden, AUS
M Waugh, AUS
R Ponting, AUS
S Fleming, NZ
N Astle, NZ
C Cairns, NZ
B McCullum, NZ
S Warne, AUS
J Gillespie, AUS
S Bond, NZ
G McGrath, AUS
12th man - D Vettori, NZ
*I wanted to pick Gilchrist but I needed to have Gillespie in there as otherwise I'd be stuck with Tuffey, Mills or Martin as the 3rd quick. Could have Vettori as 2nd spinner/all rounder but it damages the balance of side.
Plus I think McCullum's keeping is slightly better than Gilchrist's.
