Football Saturday Round Up

It was a massive round of football this morning so I'll just recap it all for you right here, right now.

Championship
Reading are champions of England's second tier after a hard-earned 2-all draw against Crystal Palace at home and Southampton's loss to promotion-chasing Middlesbrough on Teeside. However, if West Ham lose on Monday to Leicester, the South Coast team will return to the Premier League. On the other hand, two former Premier League sides, Coventry and Portsmouth will have to wait a bit longer for their return to the top flight after they were relegated from the second tier of English football after suffering 2 home defeats. It effectively means the only interest in the last day of the season now could be the fight for the playoff spots.

Premier League
Newcastle took one big step towards European football, and possibly one giant leap for Champions League football after Tottenham lost to QPR. The Toon Army are surely favourites now given their form and Tottenham's form. Newcastle were also helped by Chelsea's inability to beat the Gunners at the Emirates at lunch time. Meanwhile, Blackburn have made the most of Wigan's loss to Fulham and given themselves hope of survival with a big win over Norwich. Wolves look set to be relegated now as they host title-chasing Man City on Sunday.

Bundesliga
Borussia Dortmund are German champions after beating Borussia Moenchengladbach 2-0. Bayern won earlier at Werder Bremen but Dortmund's win meant the gap was an unassailable 8 points with 2 games to play.

La Liga
Finally, the best for last. Unfortunately for Barca fans, it wasn't the result they wanted as Real Madrid won in Barcelona for the first time since 2008 and extended their lead in La Liga to 7 points. It is now highly likely that the league title will return to Madrid for the first time in 4 years.
