We Was Robbed!

Perth Glory were robbed. No doubt about it. I must admit I thought that was a penalty when he first went down but looking at the replay was horrified to find that Berisha had merely lost his balance - or should we say the d-word - when the referee awarded that last last minute match-winning penalty to Brisbane Roar.

If this had been any regular league game, perhaps we wouldn't be talking so much about this moment. However, this was a Grand Final and was a moment that decided the outcome of the game and the championship. And it was a rather sad way to decide what had been a thrilling game and season - especially in light of all the trouble around the future of Newcastle and Gold Coast in the A-League in recent time.

And it was a cruel end for a gallant Perth Glory side.

However, football has seen many moments where the rightful winners have been robbed. I had a look at goals that should have been awarded or shouldn't have been a few days ago so will now look at moments involving penalties and diving in the past.
