Sport's 5 Most Infamous Gatecrashers

Trenton Oldfield's feeble attempt at drowning interrupted the annual Oxford-Cambridge boat race on the River Thames - how he got through all that security on one of Britain's most famous sporting events, I'll never know along with the reasons why he did it.

But there have been plenty of crazy gatecrashers at sports events - and we're counting out nude streakers at  the rugby or cricket in New Zealand as they no longer show them on TV. These guys have succeeded in disrupting an event and getting publicity for themselves once the cameras focused on them.

2000 German Grand Prix
This disgruntled Mercedes employee ultimately cost his former employers a probable win in their home race and probably helped Michael Schumacher win the world championship in 2000.

2003 British Grand Prix
This time, Cornelius Horan was trying to warn the Formula 1 world about the end of the world as he ran onto undoubtedly the most dangerous and fastest part of the Silverstone circuit.

Everton v Manchester City, 2012
Another disgruntled employee, this time a Ryanair employee and no he was not an Everton or Manchester City fan either making this one of the strangest gatecrashes of all time.

South Africa v New Zealand, 2002
Crazy Boks fan attacks referee, Dave McHugh. I don't know why as his action was probably going to do more harm to his own team. Superman, I mean Richie McCaw to the rescue!

Hearts v Celtic, 2011
Neil Lennon is a much hated man in Scotland but it's usually Rangers fans giving it to the current Celtic manager, not this Hearts fan who thankfully was banned for life.
