RIP Fred Allen 1920 - 2012

One of our greatest All Blacks coaches and probably one of the last surviving All Blacks from the generation that fought in World War II has died. Sir Fred Allen, or the Needle as he was fondly known has died at the age of 92.

Allen coached the great All Blacks team of the 60s that included the likes of Colin Meads and Brian Lochore and just missed out on winning the Grand Slam.

Allen will forever be remembered for his venerability and longevity.

RIP Sir Fred Allen 1920 - 2012.
