RIP Frank Oliver 1948-2014 #RIPFrankOliver
New Zealand rugby farewelled one of its most faithful servants prematurely today with the passing of former All Black lock, Frank Oliver.
Oliver played 17 tests for the All Blacks - he featured 26 other times for the team in black during a time when the All Blacks still played tour games against provinces and club sides - between 1976 and 1981, even captaining them 4 times.
When not on national duties, Oliver played for his home province, Otago, Southland and Manawatu - he would coach the green and whites after retirement, and eventually the Hurricanes and Blues before leaving rugby altogether in 2001 to pursue his forestry business.
Oliver was 65.
